PNIRSIbero-America

Join Us Now: PNIRSIbero-America Global Research Connections

PNIRSIbero-America  is an initiative to create research connections to and within the countries of the Ibero-American Community. We are seeking to connect researchers in brain, behavior and immunity, at all career stages including professors, post-docs, graduate students and undergraduates, from or working in the region, with laboratories throughout the world.

The idea of PNIRSIbero-America was born following a lecture of Dr. Keith Kelley at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where the growth and success of PNIRSAsia-Pacific was discussed. As young scientists we are aware of the scientific potential of the region. Bringing together PNI researchers in the region could boost this prospect; therefore, we aimed to form a similar PNIRS standing committee that would focus on Ibero-America, to expand knowledge of PNI to this region and promote global PNI research collaborations.

Since then, Dr. Kelley has been advising and mentoring our group of young scientists. Along with other faculty colleagues and the PNIRS, a pilot program is being created to form a network of PNI scientists from the entire Ibero-American Community. The aim is to increase the number of research collaborations, share relevant information, and organize symposia throughout Ibero-America with lectures by experts from around the world. An Executive Committee has been formed and will meet at the forthcoming PNIRS annual meeting in Boulder, Colorado in 2023. The current plan is to organize a PNI symposium at a major meeting in Ibero-America in 2023.

Check out our recent publication at Brain, Behavior, and Immunity – Health talking about this initiative and why it is important to create psychoneuroimmunology research networks in Ibero-America!

Are you interested in this initiative? Do you have any suggestions of potential PNI meetings in Ibero-American countries (where we might be able to submit symposia applications)? Please let us know! Send us an email ([email protected]) and we will add your name to our list of interested people, and soon we hope to have more information to share.
